TheorieWin is not the CBR and does not book exams. What cbr.nl says always applies.
This page has 24 free practice questions for the car theory exam (B): 3 from each of the 8 CBR topics. Pick an answer and you see straight away whether it is right, with the explanation. You do not need an account. The real exam has 50 questions that count and you need 44 right (how the exam works).
Use of the road
1 / 24

Inside a built-up area you must let a city bus pull out of its stop when it indicates.
How the exam asks it in Dutch: Binnen de bebouwde kom moet je een stadsbus van de halte laten wegrijden als hij richting aangeeft.
- bebouwde kom
- stadsbus
- halte
CorrectReview this
Show the answer
Right answer Yes
Why: Inside the "bebouwde kom" you give the bus room. Outside the built-up area the bus waits for you.
2 / 24

As a car driver you may use a bus lane (busbaan) when there is no bus in sight.
How the exam asks it in Dutch: Als automobilist mag je een busbaan gebruiken als er geen bus in zicht is.
- busbaan
- automobilist
CorrectReview this
Show the answer
Right answer No
Why: A busbaan is closed to cars at all times — stopping (stilstaan) or parking (parkeren) on it is also forbidden.
3 / 24

Within how many metres of a bus stop sign is stopping forbidden (except to let passengers get in or out)?
How the exam asks it in Dutch: Binnen hoeveel meter van een bushaltebord is stilstaan verboden (behalve om passagiers in of uit te laten stappen)?
- bushaltebord
- stilstaan
CorrectReview this
Show the answer
Right answer 12 m
Why: 12 metres from the sign, if there is no chequered marking; if there is one, the ban applies alongside that marking. That way the bus can reach the kerb. You may not even stop there, only to let someone get in or out.
Priority
4 / 24
No signs, no lights, no markings. What must you do?
How the exam asks it in Dutch: Geen borden, geen verkeerslichten, geen markering. Wat moet je doen?
- gelijkwaardig kruispunt
- voorrang van rechts
CorrectReview this
Show the answer
Right answer Give way to the car from the right
Why: An uncontrolled junction means priority to the right, whatever direction the other driver takes.
5 / 24
You face a STOP sign (B7). What must you do?
How the exam asks it in Dutch: Je staat voor een STOP-bord (B7). Wat moet je doen?
- STOP-bord
- stopstreep
CorrectReview this
Show the answer
Right answer Stop at the line, then give way
Why: B7 always demands a full stop at the stop line, even on an empty road.
6 / 24
No signs or markings. You go straight on. A cyclist from the left goes straight on; an oncoming car turns left. In which order?
How the exam asks it in Dutch: Geen borden of markering. Je rijdt rechtdoor. Een fietser van links gaat rechtdoor; een tegenligger slaat linksaf. In welke volgorde?
- gelijkwaardig kruispunt
- van rechts
- tegenligger
CorrectReview this
Show the answer
Right answer You, then the cyclist, then the oncoming car
Why: Step by step. The cyclist comes from the left: for him you come from the right, so he waits for you. The oncoming car turns left: it lets you go, because you come towards it going straight on, and the cyclist, because he comes from its right. Order: you, cyclist, oncoming car.
Special roads, road users and manoeuvres
7 / 24

What is a "ventweg"?
How the exam asks it in Dutch: Wat is een 'ventweg'?
CorrectReview this
Show the answer

What is different in the real exam?
The CBR exam has 50 questions that count and 2 trial questions, in 30 minutes. You pass with 44 right. It also has short animations without sound. Here there is no time limit and you see the answer at once; in the exam you only get your result at the end.
These are not the CBR's questions: the CBR does not publish its exam questions. Ours cover the same topics, in the same kinds of question, and we check them against the RVV 1990, the Dutch traffic rules.
What about the animation questions?
The animations have their own page with video: see the animation questions, each with the right answer and the explanation.
Keep practising after these 24 questions

How many questions do I need right in the real exam?
44 of the 50 questions that count. So you may get 6 wrong.
